Volumizing Injections

As we age, we loose facial volume by loss and redistribution of fat, bone, collagen, and elastin.  Collectively, this weakens your skin's inner structure decreasing it's ability to maintain elasticity and moisture.  Facial volume loss may appear as hollow temples, sunken-in eye sockets, flattened cheeks, or loose sagging skin around the jawline also known as jowls.  This non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment helps to restore volume/youthfulness, soften the appearance of lines, or enhance current features with little to no downtime.

Dermal fillers can be used to restore volume or enhance current features.

Areas of Treatment

  • Nasolabial folds-two skin folds that run from each side of the nose to the corners of the mouth.

  • Marionette lines- area between the corners of the lips down towards the chin and jaw.

Pre-treatment Guidelines

  • Avoid the use of Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, & other NSAIDS drugs for at least 1 week prior to injection.

  • Avoid vigorous exercise immediately before treatment.

  • If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence.  Speak to your provider about medications that may minimize recurrence.

  • You may take Arnica tablets 2-3 days prior to and after your injection to reduce the risk of bruising.

  • Arrive to appointment with a clean face and no make-up.

  • Following the above guidelines will aid in preventing bruising and reducing swelling.

Post treatment Guidelines

  • Cold compresses / ice packs may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling.

  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the treatment area(s) for the day.

  • Try to sleep on your back for 48 hours post treatment.  Also, keeping head slightly elevated while sleeping will aid in reducing any swelling.

  • Avoid vigorous exercise for 2-3 days.

  • Do not apply make-up or creams until the next day.

  • It is preferred that you avoid air travel for 2-3 days.

  • Immediately after treatment, the most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site that typically resolves within 2-4 days.

  • Bruising is another common side effect lasting 5-7 days.
